Emerson Announces Leadership Appointment for Newly Formed Business Segment

Bob Sharp Named Executive Vice President of Newly-Formed Commercial and Residential Solutions as Part of Strategic Repositioning


ST. LOUIS, February 9, 2016 – Emerson (NYSE:EMR) today announced the appointment of Robert T. (Bob) Sharp as executive vice president for its newly-formed, combined Commercial and Residential Solutions business segment announced last year as part of Emerson’s strategic portfolio repositioning of its core businesses.


Sharp currently leads Emerson’s Climate Technologies business, which will become a part of the new Commercial and Residential Solutions business segment.

In his new role, Sharp will lead five business groupings within the Commercial and Residential Solutions segment, including: Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Electronics and Solutions, Sensors and Controls, Tools and Home Products. The new Commercial and Residential Solutions segment will include the existing Climate Technologies businesses, RIDGID and InSinkErator businesses, and several others.


Sharp joined Emerson in 1996 as a strategic planner at the corporate headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. He held positions of increasing responsibility at Emerson corporate, including investor relations, profit planning, supply chain, and leading the development and implementation of the company’s Perfect Execution strategy, which generates long-term strategic operating plans for all of Emerson’s business units. Sharp also had leadership roles within Emerson Process Management, serving in Minnesota and abroad across Europe. In 2015, Sharp was appointed executive vice president and business leader for Emerson Climate Technologies.


Sharp holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
